There are 25 onsite activities to choose from during Phase 2.
Each activity has been designed to offer something new and challenging, or to be as chilled out as you want it. All of these activities, with the exception of paintball are free to you. They will be open at various times and will be a mixture of both walk-up and bookings. To make the most of Venture Wellington make sure you give everything a go at least once.
With its very own wall, Brookfield is a superb venue to try your hand at abseiling. Strap yourself into a harness, chuck on a helmet, and get yourself to the top of the tower simply to let yourself back down again. Just walk up and give it a go.
Try your skills at Air Rifles to see how well you can hit a standing target. These guns have a bit of a kick, so be prepared to miss just one or twice before you get the hang of it. You must turn up at the beginning of the hour in order to take part in this activity.
Spend some time with your new friends making some wicked art. You will be able to paint, bead and print your way to artistic fulfilment.
Take out your frustrations on an old car. We have provided you with a true old-beat motor vehicle and expect you to treat it like one. Simply pick up a sledgehammer and let rip. Who knows, maybe there is a career in panel beating awaiting you at the end.
Located next to the Abseiling Wall and the Rock Climbing, Brookfield’s Confidence Course offers challenges to everyone. Either or your own or with your Unit, have a go at racing around this fun course, get covered in mud, and submit your best time for the overall Venture Competition.
Based out the back of the Rover Cafe, the Chill zone is a place you can go and play board games, super-sized mega connect four and also some massive Jenga. These games are there for you to enjoy and to help you make some friends.
Spend some time at this activity onsite and submit your own animated clip. Using clay and numerous pictures, plus some editing on a computer, your imagination is your only boundary. These 10 second movies will be judged by an expert panel and a winner announced during the closing ceremony.
If you have wanted to spend some time digging with some large machinery, now is your chance. Instead of just digging holes with spades, have a whirl at these big steel juggernauts and see what you can create.
Brookfield has one of the largest tandem flying foxes in Wellington, so why not jump one for a ride. This activity will be the place to hangout, literally. You can either do it on your own, or challenge someone to a race.
Leave your mark in a legal spot, and leave messages for your friends and Unit members. This graffiti wall is open all the time for you to have some fun with the pens, but please respect each other’s tags and leave room for others as well.
Thanks to the kind folks at Taupo bungy and Mokai Gravity Canyon, we are able to provide you with a truly awesome horizontal bungy. Connected up to real bungy cord, and harnessed in for the ride, place your name as far along the course as you can before being flung back at high speed to the beginning (and then some...)
With little cell phone coverage onsite at Brookfield, the Internet may be your only way to contact home. You can book time on the computers provided to check your email, update your twitter, write a new status on face book and of course read the news (yeah right...)
Because the Program team are really little kids at heart, we thought we would provide you all with some serious fun. Promoking are providing us all with jousting, Velcro-fly walls, water dunking machines, inflatable confidence courses and a whole lot more. Each morning and afternoon will be a new activity, so please do keep coming back for it.
Down at the lake next to the hole in one challenge and the water slide you can jump on a kayak and have a wee paddle. The kayaks are there for you to explore the various islands and channels in the lake, and are a fun way to spend the afternoon in the sun.
Located in Maire Hall is the Movie Theatre. There you can watch some of the latest new releases, and old classics, all for free. Simply find a seat, or flop on a cushion or pillow, and chill out while the world passes you by.
Take “Whose Line is it anyway”, mix in a bit of gang show, plus a few instruments and you have a hive of entertainment known as music ‘n expression. This will be running alongside the Claymation station in case you want to mix the two.
Based out of Rover Cafe, Orienteering is the running race for smart people. Brookfield has its own permanent course, and at Venture Wellington we are looking for record times around the course. Although some parts of Brookfield will be out because of activities, there are still enough people around the beat and get ahead of on the leader board.
Costing a measly $10 per 100 balls, Venture Wellington has brought its own guns and made its own field simply so you can have a ball of laughs (pun intended). This course is designed to provide both teams with unfair advantages, so make the most of your time on it. And if you need more balls, there are plenty available for you.
If paintball is too hardcore for you, then the Petanque Court is another place you can have some fun without getting hurt. The only bruises here will be your ego if you lose at this sunny afternoon activity.
Located next to the pool and the beach, rock band is the Programme team’s old play station favourite, and we want you to enjoy it to. Play away the morning to old school ballads, or new school rock.
The Rover Cafe is where all the action is at, and where you can also get your fast-food fix. It is also the place to hang out, chill in the sun, play games, and listen to music. If you want to meet people, leave messages, learn more about rovers or have fun then this is the joint.
Challenge your neighbours to a friendly game of soccer, ultimate Frisbee, rugby or cricket on the sports field. There is no umpire or referee, so the rules are up to you guys. We will provide the goals and equipment; you provide the teams and games.
If the queues for the showers are too long, or you need a place to go for a dip, the pool is the place for you. The swimming pool will be open at set times only due to lifeguarding requirements, but with the beach and rock band right next to it, there is plenty to do.
We are trucking in some sand from the sunny coast just for you. Lie about in the sun, play musical deck-chair, and hang with your mates on the beach. For venture Wellington only this will be the place to be seen.
If the sand is not enough for you, then try slip-sliding your way into the lake on our purpose built waterslide. Amongst the boats and golf-balls will be the slide that is only for running onto, jumping down, and splashing your way to freedom.
