Phase Two Offsite Activities

ALL DAY ACTIVITIES (9am – 4pm daily)

Baywatch:

Cost: $25

Equipment required: sun block, sun hat, togs, towel, sturdy shoes, change of clothes
Description:
Spend the day chilling out at one of Wellington’s premier beaches (Days Bay). Relax in the sun, go for a swim and have free access to kayaks, canoes, bikes and sports equipment. Take the bikes to buy an ice-cream, or for a sedate ride around the coast? Take to the seas in kayaks and canoes, and organise a game of cricket in the adjacent park. BBQ lunch and shaded area supplied. Bring togs, towel and plenty of sun block!

Fergs Rock n’ Kayak:

Cost: $40

Equipment required: togs, towel, warm top that can get wet, sun block, sun hat, sturdy shoes (climbing shoes if you have them)
Description:
Get physical at Fergs Rock n’ Kayak. This adventure provider is based on Wellingtons waterfront in the central city. Enjoy a 1 hour open water paddle in the harbour following the beautiful coastline, learning kayaking skills with accompanying instructors. Kayak past oriental parade and around the corner to the lighthouse. Then get high for two hours on the largest real rock climbing wall in New Zealand (indoor). Thirteen meters of vertical possibility with climbs from the most basic to overhanging and challenging! At the end of the activity join those on the days ‘City Slickers’ tour until the bus takes you home at the end of the day.

Gliding Trial Flights:

Description:
Experience gliding and all it has to offer! Following a briefing a qualified gliding instructor will take you up (towed up) in a full dual control glider for 20 minutes. During the flight you will have the opportunity to fly the glider under supervision, and learn about weather conditions prevailing at the time and how they affect the flight. During down time you will be involved in the daily operations and ground handling of the aircraft. This is a time consuming activity and therefore there will be some waiting for others to complete their flights. Flying from the site at Kaitoke gives you a great view ranging from the Wairarapa to Wellington. Everyone must experience the rush of glider flights once in their lifetime!


HALF DAY ACTIVITIES (10am – 2pm daily):

Hutt Skux – Go Karting and Queensgate Mall:

Cost: $40
Places available: 16
Departing from: Bus bay 1
Equipment required: sturdy shoes
Description:
Race your mates around the track. Who can get the fastest lap time? Satisfy your need for speed with this awesome activity. Following a briefing you will get 20 minutes to race the Go Karts around the track. You will also have pay as you go access to the mini golf on site. On the way back to the Venture site we will stop at Queensgate Mall in Lower Hutt to have a look around and stock up on any essentials.

Hutt Skux – Hutt Park and Queensgate Mall:

Cost: $40
Places available: 16
Departing from: Bus bay 2
Equipment required: sun block, sun hat
Description:
After a gentlemen’s/gentlewoman’s outing for a few hours? Enjoy the golfing facilities at Hutt Park. Play a round of mini golf, and smash 100 balls at the driving range. This is followed by a trip to Queensgate Mall in Lower Hutt to have a look around and stock up on any essentials.

Hutt Skux – Strike:

Cost: $40

Equipment required: none
Description:
Spend half a day out at the Strike Entertainment Centre! Enjoy playing your mates at bowling, then shooting them at lazer force. Peow peow.

Dry Creek:

Cost: $75
Places available: 32

Equipment required: sturdy shoes, togs, towel, change of clothes, sun block, sunhat
Description:
Dry Creek is an awesome outdoor adventure area. A bushbash lead by guide to the top of stream followed by a decent of the canyon in wetsuits slipping and sliding down the stream, leaping into pools and completing an 8m abseil down a cliff. Get amongst it!

Scuba:

Cost: $40

Indemnity forms: Two forms with parent’s signatures must be supplied. If you answer ‘yes’ to any of the medical questions please get in touch with the Programme Team to discuss your options. (Consent form, Indemnity Form)

Description:
Have you always wanted to try Scuba Diving? This is your opportunity to experience scuba, and the fun of swimming and breathing underwater. Trial scuba diving takes places in a heated outdoor swimming pool. It is the first step in gaining open water certification. Following a briefing you will learn about the equipment, how to communicate using hand signals, and have some time to practice your new skills. There will also be time to try snorkeling and have fun in the swimming pool. Approximate duration: 1 hour trial scuba dive, 1hour snorkeling + swimming.

High Ropes:

Cost: $45

Equipment required: sturdy shoes, activity clothing, sun block, sunhat
Description:
Challenge yourself mentally and physically on the high ropes course. With the support of your friends push your boundaries by completing tyre climbs, trapeze jumps and chicken wires in this vertical world above the ground. A hugely fun and rewarding team experience. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve. This activity is run to the highest safety standards by qualified facilitators and instructors.
