Programme Update

With only a few weeks left till Venture, the Programme Team is getting very excited about the level of interest in our phase two program. We have designed it so you will have as much fun as possible, and tried to keep them as cheap as possible too. Some have proven so popular that we have had to close bookings, and for those that have got in – well done. On the 6th when you arrive back onsite you will have until 7pm to pay for ALL of your activities. If you fail to pay by then we will open your spot to someone else so please have money ready.

Each day outside the main admin office will be a whiteboard signalling any vacant spots on any activities, and if you are free and have the money and want to do it make sure you go in and sign up. We want you to have the best time possible. Currently we have vacancies on the following activities:

Beach base/Baywatch (last two days are free):

Cost: $25

Description: Spend the day chilling out at one of Wellington’s premier beaches (Days Bay). Relax in the sun, go for a swim and have free access to kayaks, canoes, bikes and sports equipment. Take the bikes to buy an ice-cream, or for a sedate ride around the coast? Take to the seas in kayaks and canoes, and organise a game of cricket in the adjacent park. BBQ lunch and shaded area supplied. Bring togs, towel and plenty of sun block! What a better way to relax after all the buzz of the last 8 days...

Gliding:

Cost: $95

Indemnity forms: signed formed must be brought if you wish to complete this activity (day membership form, Club Rules)

Description: Experience gliding and all it has to offer! Following a briefing a qualified gliding instructor will take you up (towed up) in a full dual control glider for 20 minutes. During the flight you will have the opportunity to fly the glider under supervision, and learn about weather conditions prevailing at the time and how they affect the flight. During down time you will be involved in the daily operations and ground handling of the aircraft. This is a time consuming activity and therefore there will be some waiting for others to complete their flights. Flying from the site at Kaitoke gives you a great view ranging from the Wairarapa to Wellington. Everyone must experience the rush of glider flights once in their lifetime!

This is exceptional value for the money you are paying. This is simply a once in a lifetime opportunity and we encourage all New Zealander’s to give this a go!

High ropes (still some spots available if you are quick!)

Cost: $45

Description: Challenge yourself mentally and physically on the high ropes course. With the support of your friends push your boundaries by completing tyre climbs, trapeze jumps and chicken wires in this vertical world above the ground. A hugely fun and rewarding team experience. You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve. This activity is run to the highest safety standards by qualified facilitators and instructors. The programme team have done this personally, and while a challenging course, it is one of the best in the Lower North Island. It is well worth the experience and not only do you have a ball of fun, but get to grow mentally as well. Totally awesome activity!

Hutt skux – Hutt park (and the mall – did we mention that this is the only fast-food during phase two?):

Cost: $40

Description: After a gentlemen’s/gentlewoman’s outing for a few hours? Enjoy the golfing facilities at Hutt Park. Play a round of mini golf, and smash 100 balls at the driving range. This is followed by a trip to Queensgate Mall in Lower Hutt to have a look around and stock up on any essentials. Whilst this may sound a little simple, what better way to get away from it all for a few hours, release some stress, get some fast-food and reinvigorate yourself for the coming days action?

Scuba (the best till last):

Cost: $40

Indemnity forms: Two forms with parent’s signatures must be supplied. If you answer ‘yes’ to any of the medical questions please get in touch with the Programme Team to discuss your options. (Consent form, Indemnity Form)

Description: Have you always wanted to try Scuba Diving? This is your opportunity to experience scuba, and the fun of swimming and breathing underwater. Trial scuba diving takes places in a heated outdoor swimming pool. It is the first step in gaining open water certification. Following a briefing you will learn about the equipment, how to communicate using hand signals, and have some time to practice your new skills. There will also be time to try snorkelling and have fun in the swimming pool. Approximate duration: 1 hour trial scuba dive, 1hour snorkelling + swimming. This is the best value activity in our opinion and are hoping you do too! There is nothing like lying on the bottom of the pool and being able to breathe. For those that missed out on the expedition this is for you! We totally think you should do this one!

Remember, book now to reserve your place and confirm by paying at Venture.
